Lily Senior Session Preview | The Wharf | Alabama Senior Photographer | Gulf Shores Senior Photographer | Birmingham Senior Photographer | Gadsden Senior Photographer
I had such a great time with Lily at her senior session at The Wharf in Orange Beach! Lily said that she wanted her session here because she spends a lot of her summers out on the boat with her family and couldn’t imagine a more perfect place for her senior session. I am in agreement because this location is gorgeous! I had such a fun time meeting and working with Lily. She’s gorgeous, and I am so jealous of her natural beach waves in her hair. She’s actually is not from the area and it’s surprising because she looks like she was born to be living in this area! I am so excited to share these previews with you all! <3

I don’t question why God sends me the clients He does, but for this session, I did…
I have clients from all walks of life. I love the diversity of my clients and how even though they are all different, I get to capture their families for who they are and they can have images that show the love they share. I pray that God sends me clients I need to have to bless them with images that they can cherish for years to come. But, this year when I was thinking over my goals for 2019, God spoke something to me for my business. He told me to capture the His faithfulness, His love, and the stories of hope of His people. When Heather sent me a message for a beach session, it was not like my normal messages. She told me that she lost her daughter, Adalyn, at 8 months old and everywhere they go a beautiful pink and purple sunset follows them and it reminds her of her sweet baby girl. She wanted to capture this with her family as they traveled from Michigan to Gulf Shores, AL. I, of course, wanted to do this for them because I knew God was sending me a story and testimony to share. Before I continue with how much I adore this session and how amazing it was, let me share a little about Adalyn with you all and the amazing things the West family is doing with Adalyn’s legacy she left here on earth.
On September 21st, 2016 Adalyn West was born. It was the most special moment of her parents lives. Shortly after birth, she started struggling to breath and her oxygen saturation was lower than it should be. The family’s lives turned upside-down at that moment. Within a couple of hours, Adalyn was transferred to another hospital, and there they discovered her heart condition. They would discover over the next days and months, that Adalyn had Scimitar Syndrome, a very rare type of Partial Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return. Even though she had a laundry list of diagnosis, you would never know it by looking at her. There was something special about Adalyn…there was this light surrounding her, and they call it her sparkle. It was undeniable, and something you couldn’t ignore. She also had a way of looking into your soul, with her big beautiful blue eyes. This amazing little girl, with her bright hairbows, perfect little nose, eyebrows that could hold their own conversation with you, and a beautiful smile that could light up a room, was the most courageous fighter in all the world. She had 3 open heart surgeries, five heart catheterizations, numerous MRI’s, CT scans, and countless procedures. She was their little hero. She taught them the most important things about life in her 8 months than most people learn or experience in a lifetime. On May 18, 2017, they had to say their earthly goodbyes and they promised Adalyn that they would fight in her name for other children with CHD.
With all of this said, this brings me back to this session. I don’t question why God sends me the clients He does, but for this session I did. I did because Adalyn’s story and THIS SESSION literally touched my soul. And normally I’m not one to use these terms. This family was so kind, loving, and incredibly in touch with the present. Bring present with one another was so apparent with them, it’s rare to see this today. They are so affectionate and even the children was in tune with the strong amount of love. You could sense it. I captured this family exactly as they are. Once you see these images you will know exactly what I am talking about. The pinks and purples the family are wearing are significant. They wear these colors in memory of Adalyn’s full and beautiful life. I thought it was so important to note that because I feel like these colors add something so special to the images below.
As far as Adalyn’s story goes, she showed me last night. Yesterday was completely overcast here at the Gulf. I was devastated driving to the session as I wasn’t able to provide the sunset photos Heather was wanting. I told her I was going to add a overlay background because I was so sad I couldn’t give her what she was wanting for Adalyn’s story. You guys aren’t going to believe this…. the last five minutes of this session… the clouds moved out and a sunset came out. I kid you not, A SUNSET CAME OUT WHEN WE HAD NOTHING BUT CLOUDS ALL DAY LONG. God and Adalyn gave us such a gift last night. The last picture is of that sunset with Adalyn’s Dad, Mom, and Little Sister. I appreciate the West Family for allowing me to capture their family vacation, and not only that but to share Adalyn’s story.
I want to share with you all that if you would like to read more about Adalyn’s legacy and the amazing things the West family are doing to carry on her life and also to make awareness please see the links below to get involved. The West Family does many acts of kindness and works to help others who are also going through the same things they have. Please visit the link below to find out more about how you can get involved!

I am so happy my friend Megan asked me to photograph her and her beautiful daughter. Megan is also a photographer of Megan Sisson Photography and she is one of my sweetest friends. I am thankful that Megan and I have become friends over this past year. She’s by far one of the kindest, funniest, and talented people I’ve met. I am grateful for a community around me that is so supportive and also let’s me photograph their family whenever, haha!

Yesterday, I had the honors of photographing the Hays’ at Birmingham Botanical Gardens in such a special time in their lives. They are just weeks away from meeting their sweet baby girl! Welcoming your fist child into the world is such a fun, exciting, and also uncertain time. You are so ready to meet this little person, this little stranger, who you’ve been wanting to see for 9 months. You are excited to see her, but at the same time the uncertainty of parenthood is in the back of your mind. Not knowing what comes next. What giving birth will be like, what do you do when you come back home and it’s just you two with this tiny little human? But what’s also so funny in this time is you find that God has instilled these natural instincts for you to have. As a mother you just know this person so well that you just met. Even though you just met, you know everything this little one needs and it comes from you. Your body and your being was built for this. God doesn't make mistakes and he didn’t make a mistake by giving you this child. Being a new mom is a crazy experience, but it’s the most rewarding thing you will ever do. Payton, I am so excited to see you come into this role and how awesome of a mom you are going to be! I know you are going to be so blessed by this sweet baby and you two are going to be awesome parents! Congratulations!!

I had such a fun time up in Huntsville with a group of fellow photographers at this beautiful shoot at the Lowe Mill back in December! This location was beautiful, and this family was amazing. I love the tones and emotions in the session. I hope to one day go back to Lowe Mill just to explore this amazing place one day soon!
Style Shoot at Weddings at Cabin Bluff in Springville, Alabama | Preview | BIRMINGHAM WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER | TRUSSVILLE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER | SPRINGVILLE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER |
I had such a great time yesterday at the Open House for Weddings at Cabin Bluff in Springville, Alabama. I invited a friend of mine and her fiancé to come and get photos of themselves in their wedding attire and it was so much fun. This venue is absolutely amazing, no matter what season! In the dead of winter here we are and the view and the colors are still AMAZING. Thank you again to Wendy Ryals and her family for allowing me to come and be apart of their open house and taking photos at their beautiful venue! Brides, get that wedding booked here as soon as you can! I know these spots are gonna fill up quick! How could they not? It’s beautiful!!

I photographed Ashton + Joshua at the always beautiful Birmingham Botanical Gardens for their engagement session. Their wedding is this fall and I only found it so fitting that the Gardens had this insanely gorgeous yellow tree. I love fall because of this reason, the insane colors.
I love capturing my couples just as they are in this moment of their lives. Only because when you look back on the photos together you will have grown so much over the years and your lives will be so totally different. New careers, new houses, new cars, kids, more kids, and with all of this comes time, wisdom, and growth in your love. Ashton and Joshua have been together for a while so I know they already see a strong growth in their relationship and themselves together and separately.
Finding the person to spend the rest of your life with truly is a God given gift. Embrace the journey and all that comes with it.
“But let there be spaces in your togetherness and let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another but make not a bond of love: let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.“

I had a chance to photograph the Gonzalez family in Birimgham. Their family was so close and so sweet together during the entire session. Even with the adventurous toddlers at hand they still showed so much love for their parents.
Things like this are so special to me to document. I want to make sure I can capture those moments for all my families to remember these babies at this age. Adventurous, tender, innocent, and yet again so brave and full of courage at such a young age. That is what I want my kids to see in their photos and what I want your children’s to look back and remember as well. Love, adventure, and comfort.
As 2018 comes to a end I think back on all that I have experienced, accomplished, learned, and also failed. This year was a true journey of self discovery. Right after having my second son, Charlie, I really questioned if I could juggle it all. I became overwhelmed, but extremely thankful all at the same time. My emotions were scattered as I was worried I couldn’t mange my family life and a business. Of course with much prayer and so much support from my husband I made it through. This season has been a hard one. I still am learning to manage my time between two babies, keep my business rolling, and also keep laundry and house work under control (this truly is last on my list. I hate laundry.)
This morning I was laying in bed looking at Charlie sleeping and just reflecting on this year trying to not give myself the mom guilt by how much I’ve missed on photographing him this season because I’ve been so busy with work. I was reminded of how little I get behind the camera with them. Which is so silly because that truly is my heart. My passion is to capture families exactly as they are. Sure, I know every one of my families loves dressing in their finest clothes and all he colors and patterns coordinate perfectly. You brush your child’s hair for picture day even though they had yogurt stuck in it for two days prior to that. I get it. Trust me I do. I want nice photos of us too. But I also want the ones that one day my kids will look back and get sense of comfort and love in their soul because it reminds them of their childhood. They don’t remember the yogurt that was stuck in their hair for two days. They remember how mom always bought their favorite yogurt for a snack. They remember that even though they didn’t match you let them pick out their favorite pjs. They remember snuggling in bed first thing in the morning and watching a movie just because we could.
I got emotional thinking how I want my kids to have photos of me doing those things with them. Even if my hair hasn’t been washed in two days and I look like a mess. I want them to have that forever. I might literally suck at putting together their baby books, but they will have their memories in photos. And it will be REAL, RAW, and AUTHENTIC. That’s not just my goal for my kids, friends. It’s for yours too. Your sessions are not for your Facebook friends. They are not to make your family look perfect. They are to make you look exactly like you are. Even if you are a mess like me. I love the mess. I love the craziness. I love the REAL you. I want your kids to look back on the photos I take for you and remember exactly what they remember as their childhood. Not the fake smiles dressed in your sundays best. I want you to look back and remember the love and emotions. I want them to look back and remember the smell of their home and how much they loved being the age they are in those photos. That’s my true goal for your family photos, friends. I am so excited for 2019 and to see what God has in store!
I love being a Family Photographer in Alabama. This session at the Bass Pro Shops in Leeds is gorgeous! This is one of my favorite family sessions to date! The colors in this session are beautiful and the happiness is genuine! Have I mentioned seriously how much I love fall? Almost any location is gorgeous and it's all natural beautify. I love it so much.
It's really hard for me, and I know I say this allllll the time, but I seriously loved this session. This family is nothing but fun and you can tell just by the photos shared here. I always love a good beach session! <3
I can't tell you what it is, but these creek sessions have been truly a huge deal in my creative heart of mine. I photographed the Brown Family at a beautiful secluded creek in Springville, Alabama. I love working at a location with water. The beach is always magical, the ocean is so majestic and insanely gorgeous on it's on that it's really hard to not have beautiful images there. But, these creek sessions... there is something like a homegrown feel to them. Or it is at least to me. I love capturing these sweet babies playing in the creek water and finding rocks. I guess just being able to capture these adventurous but also intimate moments near home and with my favorite thing involved, water, is so beautiful to me. I still have a special place in my heart for the Gulf that can never be replaced, but these creek sessions are becoming my second favorite location to shoot at.
The Brown Family was so lovely to photograph. They have such a large personality as a whole and individually. And if you can't tell the littlest of this bunch is a free and adventurous spirit. Which I adore. I was such a mild and calm child that I think having one of my own that is fearless and adventurous makes it all the more fun, especially when I have a client who has a child just like my own. <3 This family is beautiful on their own, but their kind and openly inviting personalities makes them even more great. Not to mention I worked with Kayla's sister before so it was just so awesome to work with another part of the family and get to know them all. I am so thrilled to share this gallery with you all and hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
I love this family, y'all. These kiddos are seriously so photogenic and so sweet to each other. I love the bond between all of them and it truly shows how much love is in this sweet family. I am the worst at blogging so this session was this past fall but I am trying to step up my game and blog some of my favorite sessions from this past fall and my most recent ones as well. I hope you all enjoy these photos as much as I do! They are so precious and I still to this day love looking through these. <3
Guys. This session! It was one of my favorites for sure. You put my two favorite things together: Beaches and Gender Reveals. It was so excited to find out that Hannah and Brian are having a sweet baby girl! This session was hot and humid for it to be a July beach session, but the weather was gorgeous! I looooved editing this session so much. Getting to know this family was so much fun and there is so much love here. <3
I've been friends with Hannah since I was a Sophomore in High School. I met Houston, I believe, the year after I met Hannah. Not long after that Hannah and Houston met they started dating. It has been so much fun for me to watch Hannah and Houston grow individually and with each other as well. They are 6 years into their relationship and both are very ambitious to make a life together after Houston gets out of law school. Hannah just finished her first year as a Elementary School teacher. During this session I had the opportunity to ask Hannah and Houston a few questions and it gave me some of my favorite photos I've ever shot. I asked them to look over the last 6 years together. I asked them to think of all the things they have been together, good or bad. All the emotions, whether it be happy, sad, or angry. Both of them just looked at each other and all I could see was dedication and love in their eyes. Hannah and Houston are so lovely and I am so very blessed that they allowed me to get some awesome moments of them together.
Guys. This shoot! Not only did I have so much fun shooting these photos, but I also had so much fun editing them. I have been dying to share these with you all! I hope you enjoy them as much as I have! <3
